PMS/TENS stands for Power Muscle Stimulation and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. In short, it is a nerve and muscle stimulator also known as a neuromuscular stimulator.
When using this product strictly for the purpose of pain relief, it relieves pain by sending a signal through your central nervous system that blocks incoming signals of pain from your brain that tell your body you are in pain. This is a temporary relief, however when placed properly on muscle tissue surrounding your ailment, it can be used to aid in rehabilitation and recovery. You really have to experience it yourself to completely understand. Unlike a traditional TENS unit, when pads are properly placed directly over muscle tissue, most of the time you will feel nothing more than a complete contraction of the fibers in the targeted muscle. Typically, the larger the muscle is in horizontal depth (I.e. upper back muscles), the more soothing and relaxing the sensation will be. For muscles lacking horizontal depth (I.e. lower back muscles) you will feel the same complete muscle contraction but depending on your build, you may feel a bit of the electrical current as it passes through. In almost all cases this is still non-evasive, especially at low levels of intensity. If pads are placed over bone, cartilage, tendons, or connective tissue; this is safe, however, the the stimulation is more likely to feel electrical and slightly invasive, however, there are several methods to treat those areas without direct contact. No. Unlike a traditional TENS unit, this product also has a FDA indication for facilitation/and or improvement of muscle performance. This not only makes the product more effective in recovery/rehabilitation but it also feels much more soothing/comfortable than a traditional TENS.
The main usage that we focus on is pain relief, but this product can be used for muscle conditioning/toning, reduction of knots/inflammation, improvement of blood-flow, recovery/rehabilitation, nerve function improvement, facilitation of acupuncture points and more. Using acupuncture with a nerve stimulator is arguably more effective than traditional acupuncture. Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being. If you ask us, there's no better way to stimulate the nervous system than using a FDA cleared device that does just that. Schedule a free demo with one of our device specialists to learn more.
We are currently in the process of sourcing a safe and effective percussive therapy device also known as a "massage gun" and other over-the-counter therapeutic tools. Please stay tuned to our home page for the latest news on any new products.
Yes, our stimulators are FDA cleared, over-the-counter medical devices for safe and effective use in pain relief and muscle performance improvement.
We accept FSA, HSA, and HRA cards, however, you can not file a traditional claim for a purchase.
Flex Spending, Health Savings and Health Reimbursement accounts are used with debit or credit cards that are typically sponsored by your insurance provider. They carry a balance reserved for medical expenses only. Since we retail FDA cleared medical devices, you can use them with us. Please check with your insurance provider for details about your balance availability.
Absolutely. Many of our customers buy them for that very purpose. With an FDA indication for improvement of muscle performance, it can not only tone/condition muscle but it is also very effective in post-work-out recovery and in pre-work-out muscle activation for targeting muscles that can be difficult to isolate. No, but in certain cases, yes. With an FDA clearance for safety, there are technically no limits to usage, however, we do not suggest exceeding the maximum time allowed on the "countdown timer" of our devices (80 minutes) in a single use and/or using the device for more than an hour, twice a day for beginners. If you are not used to muscle stimulation or regular strength-training exercise you could experience unwanted discomfort from soreness the next day.
Our factory manufactured pads can last up to 100 uses with proper care. This includes returning the pads to the oval inserts or pad savers that come with the device and avoiding contact with any other material other than skin. Avoid paper contact. The adhesive gel can be revived with application of water at anytime. A spray bottle would be our best recommendation for the method of water application.
You can not use any nerve or muscle stimulator if you have epilepsy, cancer, or an artificial cardiac device such as a pacemaker/diffibulator. Also if you are pregnant, or are 6 months or less removed from chemo-therapy for cancer treatment you are not able to use this device unless directed by a medical doctor
Yes and no. If you have a clinically diagnosed injury, your best course of action is to go to a specialty doctor like a physically therapist, chiropractor or pain management specialist. We are partnered with some offices in the Kansas City area who use our devices inside their practices that we can refer you to. There are, however, alternative methods to alleviate pain from an injury through acupuncture points. In most cases there are pressure points in different areas than the actual injury location itself that can facilitate pain relief for the injury. Additionally, you can apply electrode pads to surrounding muscle groups rather than directly on the injured area to help condition and improve performance on the healthy muscle tissue supporting the area. But again, we would first suggest direction from a medical professional on how to proceed with any clinically diagnosed injury. Schedule a free demo with one of our device specialists to learn more.
Yes. Do not use this device with electrode placement over the heart simultaneously with the corresponding electrode on the upper back as there is a chance that cardiac tissue could be contracted resulting in a irregular heart beat or in rare cases cardiac arrest. Additionally electrodes should never be placed above eye level on the head. Brain stimulation is unlikely through the skull but is possible.
Yes. Children can use our product with proper adult supervision, but we would suggest permission from your medical provider for any children under the age of 8.
